About Telos Sphere
Telos Sphere was founded to help organizations build software and cloud systems that survive real production pressure. Our work is grounded in decades of experience across software engineering, healthcare technology, research systems, cloud modernization, DevSecOps, and data-heavy infrastructure.
We are not a generalist agency. We work on hard problems — regulated systems, large-scale data pipelines, production infrastructure that cannot fail — and we bring the depth of experience those problems require.
Where We Have Real Depth
These are not capability claims — they are areas where our founders and team have shipped production systems under real operational and regulatory pressure.
Cloud Modernization
We have moved organizations from aging on-premise stacks to production-ready cloud infrastructure — restructuring AWS accounts, right-sizing storage, applying IaC discipline, and cutting cloud spend without sacrificing reliability. Real results include a 90% reduction in S3 costs and multi-petabyte data migrations across AWS Organizations.
DevSecOps & Secure Delivery
We build CI/CD pipelines that ship safely: zero-rollback deployments, GitOps with ArgoCD, Blue-Green and Canary release patterns, automated migration validation, and E2E test gates before anything touches production. Security is built into the pipeline, not bolted on at the end.
Healthcare & Life Sciences
Our team has built and operated Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), MRI image processing platforms, CDISC clinical data pipelines (SDTM, ADaM), and audit tools that run in regulated environments. We understand 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA constraints, and what it takes to keep clinical workflows running.
Genomics & Research Systems
We have worked at the intersection of software and science — building large-scale genomics sequencing pipelines, migrating petabytes of research data, and creating reproducible analysis environments for bioinformatics and computational biology teams. We understand the operational demands of data-heavy scientific workflows.
Data-Heavy Infrastructure
From high-traffic platforms with hundreds of thousands of monthly active users to ML training pipelines and graph databases for clinical metadata — we have built and scaled systems that handle large, complex data with performance and cost discipline as first-class concerns.
Regulated & Compliance-Sensitive Work
We have built software that operates under real regulatory scrutiny: GDPR-compliant data models, 21 CFR Part 11 audit trails, government systems for the USDA, and compliance tooling for enterprise clients. Compliance is an engineering discipline — we treat it as such.
Leadership Background
Our founders have spent careers solving the kinds of problems Telos Sphere was built to address. The credibility is in the work history.
20+ years leading software and cloud transformation in healthcare, life sciences, and enterprise IT. Specializes in DevOps adoption, cloud architecture, secure systems design, and building engineering teams that deliver consistently.
25+ years in software engineering and DevOps leadership. Led LIMS platform modernization, achieved 90% AWS cost reduction on petabyte-scale storage, and built zero-rollback CI/CD pipelines for regulated genomics environments.
DevOps and cloud infrastructure specialist with deep experience across 25+ AWS accounts, multi-cloud environments, Kubernetes at scale, and IaC with Terraform. Has led infrastructure transformations in healthcare, AI, and web platforms.
13+ years delivering secure, scalable systems across genomics, medical imaging, government, and e-commerce. Led large-scale genomics pipeline modernization and petabyte-scale S3 migrations at a bioinformatics company.
Python backend engineer with a track record in LIMS, clinical data integration, and legacy platform modernization. Automated CDISC clinical metadata ingestion (SDTM, ADaM) into Neo4J graph, and modernized a legacy platform serving 200,000+ monthly active users.
Attorney admitted to the Bars of Massachusetts, New York, U.S. Tax Court, and U.S. Federal Court of Claims. Former Big Four tax department. Massachusetts Super Lawyer in Taxation (2019–2025). Brings legal, compliance, and regulatory perspective to Telos Sphere's work in regulated environments.
Lugal Came From the Work
Lugal was not designed in the abstract. It was built to solve a specific problem our team encountered while operating large-scale genomics and bioinformatics pipelines: cloud compute ran for hours or days, but traceability of what ran, what it cost, and what failed was poor.
The platform reflects what we know from experience — that managed pipelines need job-level billing records, explicit failure tracking, and compute cleanup that is non-negotiable. Lugal is what we would have wanted when running those workloads ourselves.
How We Work
These reflect real patterns in how our team operates — not aspirational copy.
Production is the standard
We design for the conditions that actually occur in production — load, failure, cost, and compliance — not for the demo. If a system cannot be maintained and operated reliably, it is not finished.
Traceability is not optional
In regulated and cost-sensitive environments, you need to know what ran, what it cost, and what changed. We build auditability and observability in from the start, not as a retrospective addition.
Depth over breadth
We focus on a small number of hard problem domains and build genuine expertise in them. We would rather be the right choice for a specific kind of work than a plausible choice for everything.
Working on Something Hard?
If you are modernizing a regulated system, running data-heavy workloads, or trying to bring real DevSecOps discipline to your delivery process — we would like to hear about it.
